Cultural Diversity Forum

YOU ARE INVITED TO SHARE YOUR VIEWS AND EXPERIENCES TO ASSURE DIVERSITY EDUCATION AND TO CONSIDER: "How and why is diversity the foundational and functional basis for American Democracy?"

  • A cross section of groups and individuals will be present to discuss cultural diversity events and activities in our community.
  • Community, university, and public school educators and students will display ongoing efforts in diversity education.
  • Diversity education through the performing arts will feature community and student groups in a spectacular show.
  • Key note addresses will be presented by diversity education advocates:
    Senator Carlos Truan
    Dr. Manuel Flores
    Dr. Rev. Richard Peltz
  • Be a part of creating A Community Guide to Promoting Cultural Diversity.

    Don't miss this unique opportunity to work with professional development specialists from the Center for Cultural Understanding and Change at The Field Museum and Cultural Connections partner museums to consider the connections between understanding the value of cultural diversity and preserving the concept of democracy! Together, we will utilize an integrated approach that will combine the use of some key concepts and tools of cultural anthropology, ethnic museums and cultural centers as resources, and a social justice educational framework. These workshops have been designed to provide you with a chance to see and hear the experiences of others through their eyes and ears. We will spend time working with you to develop feasible projects that bring these perspectives into the classroom.
