Discussion Boards

Submitted by oliviachapa on Tue, 2005-09-20 13:53.National Diversity Education Program - Participant Conversations

Hi! My name is Olivia "Evey" Chapa, and I am very excited to be able to communicate with anyone and everyone who is as adamant and passionate about the importance of cultural diversity as I am. I am ninth generation Texan, which means the political border-- changed by war--moved my family into the U.S., providing us with a unique perspective. Nonetheless, there is no escaping the historical struggle of the people who are considered minority, but have made a viable and productive contribution to our country. I have been inside and outside the challenges we faced for justice and equality, and through it all, I always came back to the essence of preserving any society, education. I have taught at practically every level from college through high school, and now in middle school, I find myself throughly connected to everything I have done and continue to do. Did I mention that I love to write? I believe you could have guessed that! I've blogged today if anyone wants to read what I am currently doing already. I look forward to reading about all of you.

Hi Evey, and welcome to the National Center discussion boards. We're delighted to have you participate! Your love for writing is obvious -- and will be a tremendous asset to this site. As the National Center prepares for its public opening in late October, we're implementing a larger, hopefully better web site through which to engage a wide audience in these and other discussions. Thanks for joining in!
