Gary Y. Okihiro is the founding scholar for the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy and authored its Educational Framework.
Dr. Okihiro is professor of international and public affairs and director of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the scholarly advisor for the Japanese American National Museum, and the author of several books on U.S. and African history, including Common Ground: Reimagining American History (2001), and The Columbia Guide to Asian American History (2001).
Dr. Okihiro is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Studies Association, and is a past president of the Association for Asian American Studies. |
